Chiropractor
Dr. Stagg has been practising in Bloemfontein for the past 18 years. She completed her studies at the Durban University of Technology in 2006 and achieved her Masters degree in Chiropractic.
She believes that too many people walk around with unnecessary pain, when help could be so simple. She sees it as her calling to help her patients by getting to the root of their pain and by adopting a better lifestyle.
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focusses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system.
The word "chiropractic" means "to be done by hand."
Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint function and support the nervous system. They help patients maintain optimal health while avoiding unnecessary drugs or surgery.
Chiropractors specialise in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of defects in the musculoskeletal system and the effect it has on the nervous system and general health.
Chiropractic treatment is focused to ensure the optimal functioning of the joints in the human body through highly specialised manipulation. Pressure is exerted on exactly the right points and often accompanied by treatment of the surrounding muscles.
Common complaints that bring patients to see a chiropractor include pain in the lower back, pain between the shoulder blades, sciatica (pain that travels down into the legs) and neck pain with headaches.
Colic is a symptom (excessive crying) and not a diagnosis. It is not always caused by digestive problems. It can often be due to discomfort in the babies joints, muscles or nerves. This is often caused by problems in the pregnancy (eg breach pregnancy) or during the birth (eg prolonged deliveries, suction or forceps deliveries or emergency caesars).
An athlete should not only see a chiropractor for the treatment and rehabilitation of a sports injury. They should also consult a chiropractor in order to help prevent injuries and more importantly to help improve performance.
If one part of the body is not functioning optimally, the rest of the body will try to compensate for it. This can lead to pain in other joints and muscles.
The greatest medicine is to teach people how not to need it.
Short references to big differences Dr. Kari's treatments have made to people's lives and quality of living.
The preservation of health is easier that the cure of disease.

Dry Needling is a therapeutic treatment for musculoskeletal/soft tissue dysfunction. This treatment helps to normalize homeostasis in the body in order to promote self-healing.
Dry Needling is a modern, science-based intervention in which fine needles are insterted into myofascial trigger points, tendons, ligaments, or near nerves in order to stimulate a healing response in painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Research indicates many effects (mechanical, hypoalgesic, chemical, neurophysiologic and hormonal) that are behind the reduction of pain and dysfunction with dry needling therapy.
Dry needling is not acupuncture or Oriental Medicine; that is, it does not have the purpose of altering the flow of energy (“Qi”) along traditional Chinese meridians for the treatment of diseases.
“I recently saw an elderly man with severe lower back pain and spasm. Adjustment of his sacroiliac joint caused him to be instantly pain free. He was so relieved he jumped up and kissed me on the head.”
Moments like this are highlights of her profession. She believes that too many people walk around with unnecessary pain, when help could be so simple. She sees it as her calling to help them..
“I had a primary school teacher, for example, that had constant lower back pain. The reason was that she was continuously bending down because everything and everyone around her was smaller and lower.
After treatment, I recommended that she get a chair with wheels to move between the learners’ tables. Problem solved”
